From a young age, Latoya Vaz was surrounded by laughter, family, and community. Growing up, she loved organizing games, volunteering, and finding ways to bring joy to the kids around her. That love for creating happiness never went away — it simply grew stronger.

KidsLand was born from that passion — and from a deep personal mission. After losing a beloved family member who left behind two young sons, Latoya felt called to turn her grief into giving. Her goal is to raise $40,000 to support them and help build a brighter, more secure future for their family.

But Latoya’s heart doesn’t stop there. Once that goal is met, she plans to continue expanding KidsLand’s impact — helping more children in the community through back-to-school events, enrichment programs, and joyful experiences that inspire confidence and connection.

For Latoya, KidsLand is more than a nonprofit — it’s a promise.
A promise that every child deserves to feel loved, supported, and celebrated… because when kids feel seen, they shine. 🌟

🎒 Back-to-School Event Every August, KidsLand hosts a joyful Back-to-School Celebration that brings smiles, school supplies, and self-esteem to dozens of local children. Families gather for games, free backpacks, food, and music — all in a safe, welcoming space where kids feel seen, supported, and celebrated. It’s more than an event — it’s a memory every child deserves.

💰 The Penny Drive (May) Before our Back-to-School season kicks off, we hold a community-wide Penny Drive — a fun and simple way for everyone to give back. For three days each May, families, schools, and businesses come together to donate their spare change (and more!) to help fund KidsLand’s programs and provide for children in need. It’s proof that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a huge difference.

👕 Clothing Donations — New & Gently Used We believe every child deserves to start the school year feeling confident. That’s why KidsLand also accepts clothing donations — new or gently used — for children in need. Each donated shirt, pair of shoes, or backpack helps a child walk into school feeling proud, prepared, and cared for.
